...Charlie. Actually, it's "Charlotte Bronte" in honor of the English author. For those of you who may not know what's going on, let me fill you in. Yesterday after my run, I had cooled down and was standing around talking to Kim, Carey, Micah and Debbie. I noticed Heather heading towards the "finish line" with something tucked under her arm. Once she got a little closer, I could tell that it was a kitty. I walked over to investigate and found a sweet, wet, shaking kitty. Heather found her (we think it's a girl) on College St. by the gas station. She couldn't leave it there, and despite being highly allergic, Heather ran the rest of the way with the kitty tucked safely under her arm. Well, Christa was sitting there and said something like, "Cindy, you need to take this kitty home." And, once I held her I knew Christa was right! :-)
The picture above is right after we gave her a bath to rid her of fleas. We stopped counting after 40! She was a brave little girl. We decided to acclimate her to one area of the house at a time. So, during the day she is in the kitchen/dining room area with access to the laundry room (food, water, litterbox). Charlie isn't quite sure yet about Abby, our Golden Retriever. There was quite a bit of hissing and growling at first, but today seems to be better. Abby is being really good with Charlie and respecting her boundaries. She learned that from Dante (but I'm sure those sharp little claws of Charlie's are a bit scary.)
Of course, a trip to WalMart and Petsmart was necessary to purchase kitty food, toys, litter, etc. This "free" kitten is costing me a bundle. :-) Guess I'll take her to the vet tomorrow to get checked out and get her shots.
Last night, we put her in the hall bathroom with her new bed and a couple of toys and maybe I was just tired but I did not hear a peep out of her all night. I was expecting lots of crying--being in a new environment--but she was a precious little angel. Let's hope tonight is more of the same. I'll keep everyone posted on how she's doing over the next few weeks. Thanks Christa for encouraging me to take her home. I think she's going to be a very nice addition to the family! :-)
One last picture...

Oh--how precious!!!!! You are so sweet to take that kitten home! Too cute for words!
Awwwww, too cute! I'm so glad you took her home.
Oops, forgot to add: Charlie (Charlotte Bronte) is a nice name! :)
That's one lucky kitty! That she got rescued and then found a great home. It's a good thing I wasn't there or we might have been fighting over her. And, I need another animal like I need a hole in my head!!! As my daughter says, isn't 240 pounds of inside dog weight enough animal for one family????
Thank God you took that kitten. That just about killed me. I saw it on the way to the lake and thought that if it was there when I came back by that I would get it and least try to find a home for it. You are so sweet. I love the name.
Oh Cindy, I am soooooo happy for you and for Charlie! I love that name BTW! I could tell by the look in your eye and the way you were magnatized to her that you needed her and she needed you!!! I am soooo glad that Heather rescued her and that you were there when they arrived back at home base. She sure is adorable and looks very cute and cuddly after her bath. I know she will be happy in her home with you and that she will eventually grow to love Abby. Charlie is a nice souvenir from MM! Have fun and keep the pics coming!
I am so glad that Charlie now is in a loving home! I knew when I saw her that morning that she was going to make someone very happy. The pictures are too cute.
Have a great July 4th.
